Janette Fishell

Heavy rain. To Mass. Henry came for an hour then to the GP - he played well with the ball and the rocking horse. To Hanover Square for recital by Janette Fishell. She plays well and is from Indiana. Bach, Beethoven (!) Ethel Smyth and Lionel Rogg. Simon Williams pleased to see me. Only 16 there. To quiet time. Liz went to Cadogan Hall Tallis scholars freebie with Elizabeth, Invite came for Carol and Kevin's wedding - there is to be a canal trip from Wigan! MM at Romsey is off. Watched TV on Sir Kenneth MacMillan, He died at 62. Skype meeting did not work well but chatted to John Rayer and on phone to Mike Reidy. Grammar schools programme very interesting.

Mayerling

Swam 18 - another lovely day and Bruce got on with clearing plants. To Paul's and chose hymns up to mid June. Everyone very happy - he used to sing in the West End in shows like Jesus Christ Superstar and Camelot! To Covent Garden on student ticket £10 to see Mayerling - wonderful tragic ballet with a dark brooding score by Liszt. Loved it!

SDF

To York library for SDF meeting. It seems the Mrs O episode was my fault - nothing was said about how I had turned the situation around and then the final straw was the suggestion that I could not have my leave next week. This was sorted by Chris coming in next Friday and Fiona offering to come in early if needed. I spoke to pensions and got a quote. I spent the last hour clearing the issue desk prior to it being moved next Wednesday. I have had enough! Fish and chips when Liz returned from Bow and watched part of Royal Ballet tribute to Kenneth MacMillan. Dennis arrived and much discussion about retirement.
