Mass, to Glyn Close - Henry not well and Dennis in strange mood so meeting and car seat purchase delayed. Enjoyed the tango prom on TV, Berlioz with Joyce Didonato, Proms extra, Antiques roadshow. Uploaded first lot of photos from trip. Watched Versailles and University challenge. Bruce arrived.

Adjusted seat, radio, clock, etc in the new Honda Jazz. It's first long trip and it runs very smoothly and I love the air con on such a hot day. To Aylesford for the KCSP Mass with the Catenian banners which I put up before the Mass. No sign of Clive and staff so got my own tea! Unfortunately I missed the Mass as I had to be in Caterham to play for Alice Faulkner's funeral. She was a lovely lady. Brought the banners home. Watched grammar schools programmes and Versailles also Paddington on Royal Wedding day.

My leg wounds have healed enough for me to have a shower. Excellent SPIDIR AGM and day with Rev Barry Preece most stimulating. Bought his lovely book. Watched Versailles. To Beckenham circle. 

Pentecost. After the awful news I practised the Dorian. There is a God of love. I played voluntaries on Veni creator by John Cook, Alec Wyton and Eric Thiman. 2 of the school choir joined us and they sang well. We sang Like the murmur by  Alan Smith . One of the songs asked for s second Pentecost - dodgy theology?  To St Paul's as usual to hear Anthony Teddie speak on his book Is God colour blind? Answer No. Home for lunch,  Rather than waste 45 minutes waiting for a train probably delayed I drove to Caterham. Enjoyed evensong from St David's. 5 at Caterham for evensong played Pachelbel and Bach and we managed the psalms. Watched Versailles and Met police. Driving meant that I got home much quicker. 

Sorting out clothes. Bicentenary Mass for Sisters of the Assumption with Fr Robin and Roy playing, Chapel looked lovely with orchids.  Had wine at Milleret House reception and some lovely chats. Sat in Kensington Gardens. Fr  Andrew Gallagher  at vespers and Mass for Pentecost vigil - great homily but could not see why we sang O Jesus Christ remember at communion - surely Come down O love divine would have been a better choice? Watching Broken on TV and Versailles. g out clothes and Liz went to replace one bag. 

To Mass and then the dentist. Rebecca really hurt me when doing the injection and explained that she had caught a blood vessel hence the white cheek! She did the filling which feels like a cusp. Julie would never have done that! To St Stephen Wallbrook not impressed by the paintings but the playing by Kayol Lam from the Royal College of Music was impressive -Bach, Liszt, Boellmann and an overlong tribute to Liszt by Lionel Rogg. Watched Betroffenheit - amazing acting and dancing. Also Versailles and art guide to St Petersburg.

Thursday swam 20. Liz was at the school Mass. Watched British Muslims and episodes of Versailles. To Sevenoaks circle and they have a good programme. No meal so brought Bernard home. Friday to Balham library for lots of scores and glasses from Waitrose and cups from St John's. 

Having enjoyed "Decline and fall" I laughed even more at Evelyn Waugh's "Vile bodies" . Did Mr Fellowes get some ideas for "Downton Abbey" from him e.g. the motor racing?  Took Jack, Ciaran and Sean to Odds Farm. A bit cold for first day of summer but loads to do. We stayed as Louise was delayed at work - Tom is in New York with his Dad. We came home Thursday so no art. Lots of emails again!  Seán has arrived to stay. 5 minutes in Thomas the Tank DVD on. Looking at the wedding pictures he commented "My Daddy is a magician and my Mummy is a princess! " Lots of DVDs and sorting out toys in the garden. We went to bed very late. Enjoyed episode 1 of Versailles and programme on Heathrow. Asda late delivery. I seem to have developed a pain in my right neck - might have caught a chill at Odds Farm. Add to the discomfort in my right thumb. 

Daniel Moult played brilliantly at Bromley Parish church - about 50 there and nice cakes! Jean Francaix's Suite Carmelite interested me. It is 6 portraits of Carmelite nuns. I know a nun just like No. 4 - rushing about and constantly chatting with little apparent conclusion! I drove there behind an old lady going at 20 mph. On the way back no less than 8 drivers waved their thanks as i waited for them. Courtesy is not dead! Sme work in the garden. Played Elgar on the piano - Salut d'amour, Chanson de matin, Enigma variations. Fr Jerry wants to discuss Shona taking practice on first Sundays. Emailed and have deputy organised. A couple of singers withdrew - everybody is making excuses. Barry Williams thinks St Michael's behaved very badly and Coulsdon not much better. Watched Sewing Bee, Venice and Versailles programmes. Upstart Crow about Shakespeare is funny.
