3 services

Drove to Caterham. Saw several vintage cars this morning presumably trying to get to Brighton. All Saints Howells Sine nomine and Francis Jackson. We sang I sing a song of the saints of God. Carols practice and practice with trumpeter. Lunch at the Kerala lamb biryani, Ferrero Rocher icecream, mango juice. £17.  All Souls 4 p.m. Vierne Epitaphe and Berceuse. Purcell When I am laid in earth. Now playing for Mass at Sacred Heart. The electronic is temperamental about starting very odd. All went well and Fr Sean and everyone very friendly. Watched programme on Morris dancing. Simon Reeve in Mexico and Texas.

Mosaic party

To mosaic and an enjoyable Christmas party for the group at St Luke's Kew where we were treated to songs from the ukelele group. I was interested that a lot of the songs had no intro and were set very low probably in C or D. To Caterham for practice for the carols. Why am I awake at 4 a.m.? The subconscious fretting over the carols. Watched Only connect and University challenge last night both enjoyable. Liz went to Bromley circle's Christmas meeting. No doubt all will go well on Thursday! I was furious that only Shona the conductor from Sacred Heart turned up at the rehearsal. It seems her choir are rehearsing tonight for a nativity and 3 Christmas Masses. Last year we had 2 singers at the carols who did not attend a rehearsal at all. All very unprofessional and a lot of the time I could not hear what she was saying! The Victoria is accompanied which helps.

Chardie's wedding

Missed Brian's ordination. Liz went to have her hair done and we got train from East Croydon to Caterham. Had a coffee then got taxi to the church. Fr Ciaran did not speak to me - seems he did not like my stand over playing the hymns? All went well and had a quick run through with Louise. The usher even came and told me the bride had arrived! Louise and Liz sang The Lord bless you and keep you beautifully. Liz felt the organ wasn't that loud. We got a coach to Westerham golf club and the rain came down soon after arrival but later it cleared. Very nice meal and speeches. Disco a bit loud and I slept for an hour. Louise being a bridesmaid meant we were the last to leave as the cab was late. Home at 2 a.m.
