Funerals

Monday woke at 6 and slept until 9. Went for swim. To West Norwood Crem for Tina's funeral. Several people from the street were there. Susan greeted us but the rest of the family ignored us! The priest looked familiar - he works with Rowlands the undertakers. The photo presentation was nice. No wake - Susan said they could not cope with one! Watched first Southwark Lent video - excellent. I am playing at All Saints on Ash Wednesday! Only Darren and us remain on our side of the road from 1975. SMITF contemplation Sieger Koder. Only connect, Mastermind, University challenge. Chat to Ann.

Dennis and I went to the ordination of Bishop Philip Moger at St George's cathedral. Lovely to have the choir and some good hymns to sing. So nice to see old friends and meet new people. Fr Peter is now retired. Delicious pancakes with lemon curd and cream cheese plu whipped cream. A last beer before Lent!. Hidden Venice.

Ash Wednesday. Swim. Mass at St Andrew Thornton Heath. Priest stumbling over words. Nothing was said during the Ashing! Lots there. Server hopeless and special minister not bowing to the altar. Good chat to Clare. Amy-Jill Levine Sisters of Sion exhausting voice. On John and the Logos. Talking too fast. Copying for the Triduum. Played at All Saints Upper Norwood. 4 choir 3 servers. Martin pleased to see me and I played 2 Bach preludes, psalm, 4 hymns and St Anne's setting. I started Agnus Dei in D major instead of D minor but quickly changed! Sort out your house.

Thursday to Veronica Kearsley's funeral. Chat to lots of folk even spoke to Fr Joe! Took old coat to Collection for Turkey. Got new lightbulb for lounge. Dan came. LSiUK with Lorna Gold. Cooked. Zoom Trees4Croydon with Sam FTIC. Root and Branch zoom with Kathleen from Walmart. Quite exhausted. Apprentice.

Friday Liz to osteopath. Swim and exercises at UNACC. Meeting about new charges. Cooked Thai prawn curry. Mick came. Chat to Leonie. To Bow for talks by Fr Richard Nesbit, Helen Elwes and Sr Zoe (the latter I finally get to meet!) It was very stimulating. I spoke about getting children to speak in church at the end of Mass. We never do this in the Catholic church! I was home by 10.30 having met some lovely people.

Sat Hurtado reflection. We parked in St Matthew's car park with permission and got the train from West Norwood and buses to High Street Kensington. Met Edward Rook on the bus. I was second on the stool on the new organ at Our Lady of Victories and played the Bliss Fanfare and Nun danket first section (48 years since our wedding). Then went down to meet Rita Day and late we saw Monsignor Jim. Everybody was playing loudly - I used the en chamade! We then went for coffee and cke and had a lovely chat. It took ages to get back and we had tea at Picture house. Played JSB, Walther and Franck and changed to Be still my soul to match the sung reflection after the homily! Copied items for Triduum. Cooked pork aubergine. Watched a bit of The piano and Stacey Solomon clear up. A great day!

Sunday Lent 1 Played Bach O Lamm Gott unschulding, Walther Jesu leiden pein und Tod and Prelude and Fughetta Franck. We sang the Lent prose. To first Lent group at St John Upper Norwood. Fr Michael sang so spent time writing out Sursum corda for him - later found a copy in the vestry! Problem with microphones. Did list of hymns for Agnes.
