Holocaust memorial

Cancelled swim and took Liz to doctor. To Croydon council chamber for Holocaust Memorial Day. The school children were very good especially the violinist and singer. Generation2generation presentation. Lesley Orbach. Both to meditation - a lot there. Journey to 2030 teams meeting was good. Inside the cereals factory, A house through time - excellent series.

Wednesday 28th January took Liz to get blood test at Mayday. Swim - Roger the blind guy was in the middle lane with signs up. They moved him to the slow lane just after I got out! To Beck Meth to practise for Sunday - Harry has had a fall. We had lunch and took jigsaws back to the hospice shop. No 500s available. Had a rest. NT Hamlet live at David Lean cinema. It’s just brilliant!

Thursday to art. Buddha and giraffe going to library exhibition. Arrived at aerobics to find Morgana taking it so walked out. Cheltenham prayer. Took Liz so she could drive at Westow Park. To the cinema museum to see Mission Joy with the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. Well worth seeing again! How lovely to see Jill Gregson and Sarah Thorley again. The apprentice in Hong Kong.

Friday both went to Triniti's class and lunch. Mick came. Zoom with Konchok and eventually Sarah. Took decorations of lounge tree.

Saturday Louise came and packed the tree into one bag! I had battled with it! Organ day at Bloomsbury Baptist. Loreto Aremandi, Paschal Bachmann and Hamish Wagstaff. I was surprised to see these young gentlemen were not wearing organ shoes. Interesting talks on Welsh church music, Spanish organ music and so many pipe organs being destroyed. Good to see folk again. The buffet was good.

Sunday At Beckenham Methodist we had a baptism and communion. Played Willan and Hand on Quem pastores, Walton Richard III suite, music from the little Organ book for Parry and Sortie by Rawsthorne. Communion prayer very short and buns and grape juice. Had a nice chat over coffee to a couple who have moved from Sittingbourne after 50 years to be near their sons. Lunch at SJ. Evensong Wood in E flat no2, O thou the central orb, Tallis O Nata lux.

Monday Feb 2 Candlemass To St George’s cathedral for the episcopal ordination of Gerard Bradley a very happy occasion with great music and saw lots of friends. Usual Monday evening quizzes on TV. Cribs all put away.

Tuesday chat to Ann and swim. Watched videos from the ordination. We both went to meditation. Wrote to Central safeguarding office about the safer recruitment module. This is now referred to Bishops conference person! Yes Prime Minister X 2 hilarious. Lawnmower factory.

Wednesday swim. To Beck Methodist to practise. Harry Bramma should come home this week with a care package. To R and B where we first went and quotes for bathroom items. Croydon climate forum teams meeting. Learned a lot.

Thursday Enjoyable visits to the organs St Aidan of Lindisfarne East Acton and Our Lady of Willesden still being built but excellent quality. Simon Lewis gave us a delicious lunch and Fr Stephen was very chatty! The only church with a Hill, Bevington, Willis and Lewis! East Acton has no organist but they do have tubular bells and drums in the gallery. The 228 bus stopped at Willesden junction so walked the last bit.

Friday both went to Unacc. I then took my painting to Zedwell Piccadilly Circus and met Saskia. She loves the picture!

Watched the opening ceremony of the Winter olympcs 2026 Milan Cortina. Bocelli and Bartolli sang. Why we had 3 composers with huge heads I am not quite sure! The choreography and speeches were good. The flag waving is rather boring.

Saturday Delightful concert at St John the Evangelist Upper Norwood by violinist Alfie Weinberg and South African pianist Qden Blaauw. Judging by his CV the South African music scene is far more vibrant than it was in the 70s! Photographs for the presentation. St John the Evangelist Upper Norwood has 2 copies of National gallery paintings on display outside. Letter to The Tablet about the Theos report on migrants and black bishops. Watched some curling and skiing. A most engaging priest at Anerley (Fr Joseph on holiday in Nigeria). What is your legacy? If you are salt and light what do you actually do?

Sunday to SJ Baptisms Correa Mass and Rutter For the beauty of the earth. Met Daniel Mann and Desiree from Canada. Wrote to Rabbi Nathan about the painting. It might give offence to Jewish people so the organisers have asked for an alternative and the only one I have is "Desperate to land".

Antiques roadshow, Call the midwife, Pottery throwdown. Finding harmony by King Charles.
