Ann and Paul

 Monday video call with Ann. Swim and aerobics. Music list for October in Excel so added to it and sent back to Jaimee. She still has 4 hymns we do not know! 3 on the same Sunday! Lidl for shopping and had a look at 65 Saxon Road - looks seedy but the apartment might be at the back. Put the balloons jigsaw back in the box - couldn't even finish the edge! Bach from Proms. Anna Lapwood wheeled out as an expert. SM lecture on Ukraine. Liz went to UCM about CAFOD. Only connect, University challenge, Who do you think you are.  Tuesday swim only 10 lengths too many people, to the tip - could not park near the hard plastic because of vans with youngsters unloading! To hospice shop in Beckenham and took 2 jigsaws back and bought 5. Nice chat to the lady. Quiet time. Adam's Mum died aged 95 and chatted about art. Cleared out the car and took seat out. Woking

 Monday swim. Emily and Mary came for cake and tea. Picked up Danny Simpson and got to St Columba's just after 3. John-Francis Friendship on Sacred Heart and purity of heart. The first talk at 8 was a bit hard to follow. Did not sleep that well - it was hot. Tuesday 8am morning prayer and breakfast in silence. Talk 2. Walked labyrinth. It was cooler. After lunch (food very good) 20 minute walk to the golf course tunred out to be 90 minutes 3.5 miles said John when we got back but I did manage it. Sandals and stick. Talk 3 at 8. Evening prayer and compline.  Wed 8 am morning prayer. Have read a lot of J-F's book and he says he will give a discount if church want to run a course. Packed and out of room by 10. Eucharist and talk 4 at 11 and lunch at 12.30. Home by 3.  To Bread for the world and the launch of Richard’s book Letters from Nazareth. Heatwave

Wed 6th Sept very hot again. Swim. Watched Bargain hunt. Meditation.  Rossini Il Turco from Aix en Provence. Evensong Rugby school. Cooked chorizo and potatoes for salad. Lecture by Archbishop Welby Embrace missed first 10 minutes. On reconciliation. Saw mouse in lounge.  Thursday still hot, Swim and art - sketched 2 new paintings. LSi webinar. Good speakers. Listened to Iestyn Davies prom and rest of Turco - a clever production. SLN talk on SoC technical difficulties but a good speaker. Friday swim and Unacc. 12 there and fan not on! Quiz is overbooked so not going. Spoke to Dot and Philhomena. ROH sub for £1 Alexander Campbell spotlight. Prom from Yarmouth. Cooked vegetarian Thai curry. Royal Liverpool PO prom. Rach and Bernstein. Bit of Figaro from Belgium ridiculous costunes. Sat so hot! SM at Golders Hill park kept breaking up. Swk and Blackfriars. Hoovered and washed kitchen floor.   Mum died on this day in 2006. I can hear her saying Old age I can give it away! Your father has got all the answers now. St Augustine of Hippo I think the C of E prayers for the day are closer to Augustine’s words. A very fine Bank holiday recital at Bromley Parish church. We began with William McVicar interviewing David Hirst who is one of the few English organists at a French cathedral. Buxtehude, JSB trio sonata 5. Claire de lune (I checked the piano score it never goes above mp) Bryan Hesford variations on a theme of Paganini. Nimrod played very slowly and it works (I shall have to rethink my version) Reger Variations and fugue on God save the King. Great to see Christopher Moore . What a joy! Clearing up garden. Proms

 Tuesday Liz went to West Wickham to get toenail done and shop. To quiet time and David was hilarious. Lady turned up late with a baby in the chantry. His comment "Just shut your gob". She left early. Over tea he said he likes his girlfriend  "because she likes me". Liz and Adam were there.  Stunning prom from Petrenko and the RPO. Shostakovich 10 and Beethoven piano concerto No 4 with Alexandre Kantorow who also played a virtuosic encore. Firebird finale. Wed slept late so no swim. Bed and towels. England won semi-final against Australia women's football. Catching up on Proms. Impressed by Dora Pejakevic and Voces 8 singing Roxanna Panufnik and Barber. Mahler 7. Henry came and painted a canvas - a tortoise. Travelling auctioneers. Small mouse when I was cooking. Not nice. Thur another hot night and lie-in. Liz temp up so resting. Jersey

 Monday nice chat to Ann. Swim and aerobics. Jim will answer any alarm calls when we are away.  Fabulous Carmelites at the Proms. Robin Ticciati so expressive! He was a joy to watch as we were in G stalls. Orchestral details one had never noticed, glorious singing and acting. Nice to see Lionel. Tricky jigsaw.  As Liz told me I would not get it done by Tuesday of course I finished it at 11.59 ! Tuesday packed. Dennis came down. Buses to East Croydon and train to Gatwick in good time. Got searched and trousers were threatening to fall down! Assistance to the plane and Liz went to duty free. Bruce picked us up and we went to Pizza Express. Wednesday to Janet and Richard's for coffee and a nice chat and Janet brought us back as Liz's phone needed to be connected. David Smith

 Monday swim and aerobics. To St John's for David's funeral which was very memorable for the string quintet playing Schubert and for the Faure Requiem. A fine sermon from John (who apologised to Dennis for being a bit short with him yesterday). Long chat to Ben. Henry came and painted a canvas and played games. Only connect, University challenge, Earth. Anna Lapwood organ prom. Nice that she paid tribute to her parents on their 37th wedding anniversary. Tuesday picked up Lou and Sean at Selhurst and Lou off to work. Told me about the Manila trip. All three went swimming. Supervision group. Clare came to "babysit".  Fantastic Prom Mark Elder and the Halle The Bells and Shostakovich 5. The tenor was perhaps not quite forceful enough and there needed to be more men in the large chorus.
