Arundel

Thursday after breakfast to Arundel cathedral. 16 came and Elizabeth Stratford welcomed us and played. I did not play but everybody enjoyed it. The two 16 year olds on their first visit with us were impressive. A good lunch at St Mary's Gate Inn - I had fish and chips. Sarah and Henry Plumbley welcomed us at St Nicholas which is the only church which is part Catholic, part Anglican.  The organ has a sweet tone. I1 played Andrew Moore. Jonathan played Vierne and Guilmant. We left about 5 and got petrol which was 150! Another lovely meal although I was sleepy. Friday set off at 10 and to Nymans - a lovely walk and we had coffee. Home by 1.30. Surprised that Dennis had not set alarm. Annoyed by 2 letters from Hastings insurance offering a hire car. Why? Watched Wimbledon men's semifinals. Excellent recital by Matthew Foster at St Edmundsbury. Rosemary Hill on Pugin for churches trust. Tommy's anthem sung at SMITF. Capriccio from the Met with Renee and Sarah Connolly conducted by Andrew Davis. Lovely production.

To St John East Dulwich for a delightful recital by Bridget West with an appreciative audience. She played Piers Maxim's Strength and stay, Mendelssohn 6, Walton, Sweelinck, LLoyd Webber and Hakim. Good to see Richard Pilliner but his news is not good. Dismissed at St John Shirley - can't afford him! Wimbledon Ladies final won by Ash Barty, Carleton Etherington playing at Tewkesbury Abbey very well presented and performed. Geoff Weaver, Rheinberger, Percy Fletcher, Weitz, Sweelinck. NT at home All my sons by Arthur Miller brilliant. Call my agent series 4.

Tuesday SMITF, Blackfriars. LMP coffee zoom with Ben Goldschneider horn player. Henry came with Dennis. Snap, garden. Call my agent. Operavision on you tube has the Polish opera Haunted manor by Moniuszko - the music is pleasant enough but the producer seems to have thrown every idea at it and frankly it's ridiculous! Bake off the professionals.

Thursday dentist cancelled until October! Awake in night. SMITF, Blackfriars, piano and found Dad's wedding march for Ann which I thought was lost for ever! Churches trust on Kempe stained glass. Interfaith network AGM. Liz went to get her nails done and drove there. Zoom LSI was fruitful. Animal park. Bible study suggested breakout rooms.
