The stewards led an interesting service on prayer. The second hymn was a video and not easy to join in. Played Bach Heut triumphiret, Boellmann Priere a Notre Dame, Tambling on Slane, Oldroyd Le Prie-Dieu and Murrill Postlude on a ground. Interesting that techniques of prayer were not discussed nor much about silent meditation. The Maori Lord's Prayer new to me. Watched Americas wildlife but dropped off,
Monday chat to Ann. Liz to last tapestry session and lunch with WM folk. Swim. Julian came - a very good chat. Lovely service welcoming new companions of Nazareth online Liz among them! University challenge and Only connect.
Tuesday swim and practice. Took blistet packs to Boots. Met Steven Disley in the street. He is very happy at the Minster. Turns out carers meeting was yesterday. 3rd mixup. Only connect, University challenge, Keeping up appearances, Sorry, Masterchef. Mum would have been 107 on the 19th.
Wednesday 20 came to hear Daniel Mann talk about the situation in Israel/Palestine and the work of the monitors. The situation is dire. This is the best turnout for some time and Oremus included my article with a photo. People came from Pinner and North London. Alan was a pain! Picked up Henry.
Thursday A pleasure to have Henry staying overnight so Dennis could go to Portsmouth hospital to accompany Bruce who was flown over from Jersey. I took him to school and picked him up. All went well, We await further developments. Art and worked on tree painting. Picked up Liz at Lidl. To St John the Evangelist Upper Norwood for Ian Shaw’s recital. Good to meet James Gough at last! It was very academic Martin Passacaglia is a great work but needs to be put in context. The Bach Musical offering did not inspire nor did Peter Eben's Sunday music. Is it really organ music? Garden front boxes filled and begonias planted. The last two episodes of Race across the world and the boys deserved to win. Harrison had the best jokes! Scenery of Mongolia and Khazakstan stunning.
Friday Unacc and steak for lunch. Garden back boxes filled and begonias planted. Very hot! Quiet afternoon watching antiques roadshow (old one) and Repair shop on the road. Liz got her Nazareth cross.
Saturday SM Regents Park. Hurtado Pentecost. Weeding garden - very hot again. Classical collection TV women composers. Mass at Holy Ghost Balham (it being Pentecost) and an appeal for Mission. To St Luke's for Voces 8 concert which was delightful. Met a couple bass and soprano. Barnaby is the oly surviving member from 21 years ago! Bought CD and got stickers.
Very hot in the night. To St James Riddlesdown played all my Pentecost pieces! John Cook and Alec Wyton on Veni creator and Postlude for Whitsunday Eric Thiman also Ley on Down Ampney. James Gough started at St John's. Henry enjoying the camp. Liz could not take part - no Anglican DBS! Fonteyn and Nureyev tributes also Magic of dance. Only connect and University challenge.
Bank holiday Monday temp hit 34 at Kew. Chat to Ann. To Bromley Parish church for Tom Winpenny's entertaining recital which included Bingham, Hindemith, Hendrie, Hovhannes and Florence Price.
