Coming home

Our last day in Washington sunny and to Library of Congress. We tagged on a group going to overview the reading room and some woman said "I'm not sure that they are in the group" to which I retorted "Tough we want to see this and I am fed up of being told what not to do". All this security gets to you after a bit. The deocration is amazing and the Bibles impressive. Very good screen presentations and we saw Jefferson's library and Civil Rights Act and early Americas with amazing maps. Thought of Francis. Great to see Gershwin's piano, metronome and painting of Jerome Kern. Less impressed by the homage to Bob Hope. The Folger Shakespeare library was a disappointment - the first folio and a short video and heraldy and figurines - no theatre or garden so looks like you have to do the once a day tour! Sat in the park for a while and checked out 1.30 subway and 5A bus to Dulles airport which took an hour. We checked in as there was nothing to do in that part of the airport and had hamburger and fries. Posted videos to Facebook and spoke to Ann on Skype so the time from 3 to 11 went quite quickly. British Airways plane was late and we were world traveller plus which means a bigger seat (like an Etihad one). Watched The Grand Budapest hotel and listened to Taverner - slept a bit. Landed late at 11 then 40 minute wait as our berth was blocked by another plane. Buses came and so we skipped the long walk. Met Stephen from the cathedral choir returning form his daighter's recital in Frankfurt. Home by 3 tube, train and taxi from Thornton Heath. No lift at West Brompton. Unpacked and listened to evensong from Chelmsford. Tired. 3 Tablets and SSG mag to read! Watched The Apprentice part 3 and Grayson Perry on identity but very tired. Electrics must have gone off as nothing recorded. Watched University challenge and programme on Bomberg.
