All Saints

Played Howells Sine nomine and Peeters O quanta qualia. We sang I sing a song of the saints of God. Good rehearsal for the Handel and evensong. Peregrine off to Singapore until Dec 12. Susan says they only have a priest on first Sundays from March! Watched you tube of Battersea Power station. It's a huge shopping mall!

Monday no swim. Liz to doctor (inhaler), dentist, Pilates. Wrote to PM, Shapps and Coffey. To Brompton Oratory sung vespers with choir, 11 servers, numerous candles, gabbled Latin. OTT. Like Tosca! Mass in Latin ab orientem. People say nothing. Very Ampleforth priest who did everything. A good homily. The only thing women allowed to do is take the collection! Ben Bloor played well. Durufle, Franck. Not so sure about the Roger-Ducasse and Germani toccata. The Latry Slave Regina with tenor worked very well. I usually don't like his music but this was good! Home quite quickly.

Tuesday swam. Chat to Ann. Sent The Letter details to parishes. Quiet time. Timothy Radcliffe at SM excellent and wise. All Saints day. Good TV Only connect, University challenge (I did well!) Bakeoff.

Wed All Souls swam. Liz to swim and gym. World ballet day ROH, San Francisco and Joburg. Lovely Faure requiem at St John's. Can't help thinking Be still my soul makes a better end than In our day of thanksgiving.

Thurs swam. To St George's cathedral for Bishop Howard Tripp's funeral. Part of the Faure and Be still my soul. Bishop Paul Hendricks homily. Saw Sr Sheila, Des, Bishop Paul Mason (he loves being with the armed forces for 4 years!) Archbishop Kevin. Told Mr M and Mark Nash about Streatham Hill. Very nice lunch. Brian, Met a Lady of the Marshal. Never heard of them before - it's West African and London. Liz went to the osteopath. More ballet on return and Masterchef.

Friday swim. Liz to Sudbury funeral of Lourdes patient. NT at home Young Marx very funny and sad too. I did not go to the demo at the department of business and energy but it looks as though it was good and well attended! Andy came in evening and changed fuse on downstairs plugs which kept on tripping out. Mice may have damaged cable so no dishwasher for a while!

Sat up early. To the Cezanne at Tate modern and renewed my membership card. Stunning! Scipio is particularly fine but no postcard of it. In fact the pcs are dull! Coffee and pain au chocolat then 63 bus to Farringdon and underground to Euston Square. Played for Mass at 12 noon at Somers Town. Viscount organ. Strange noises in the church. Liz sang the David Palmer Ps 23 very well. Lunch which Liz organised and AGM. Excellent speaker Canon PJSmith from Portsmouth. John did not get elected again. Delay on bus (scaffolding fell down in Walworth Rd) so just got to Streatham Hill for Mass.

Strictly was good. Repair shop.

Sunday Liz came to Caterham. I played Adagio from Elgar cello concerto and Mushel Toccata which was much enjoyed. I know that my redeemer liveth was beautiful. Buffet lunch at Bollywood was excellent £20 each. Choral evensong and Lynda went sick but all was well. Shera canticles and Let us now praise famous men RVW. Played Vierne Epitaphe and Berceuse, Moore on Eventide and Plaint.

Very wet day. Strictly and Ellie is out which is sad. Repair shop. Wendy Craig tribute.

Monday lie-in and no swim. Croydon green network zoom meeting about meeting Mayor Perry in New Year. Fantastic Brno production of From the house of the dead and Glagolitic Mass. Bryan Stevenson at SM brilliant speaker and inspiring.
