The weekend was brilliant. Bruce drove us everywhere in his new car and their new home is lovely. We enjoyed 4 meals out and it is hard to choose the best. The Italian was delicious, the Greek a bit noisy. I had lovely whitebait and calamari and chocolate brownies. We also visited about 5 bays which I did not recall and had a lovely day on Sunday at the Zoo. Also time to relax. I finished the Missing sister book so now have to wait until March for the story of Pa Salt! Mass at St Thomas on Sat evening. This is the only Sat evening Mass on the island so lots of people who did not sing much. The sheets with the words were few and far between. Could only join in with Celtic Allelia and Amen! Meanwhile Laudate hymnbooks sit unused in the pews. The Filipino choir sang a gospel number at communion. By the end we had both had enough of the concert and headed for the restaurant! We arrived back 11 p.m. on Monday having had assistance to the station (which was much better than going where we had a long walk because of works at the station). Taxi from East Croydon.

Tuesday woke too early so no swim. To Shirley Methodist for retubing of hearing aids and she has a useful gadget for cleaning out the moulds!. Took soil from baskets to the tip and hard plastic stuff. Quiet time and a new guy Dave there.  Wrote to PM about North Sea oil and fracking. To Caterham PCC to discuss training future organists (my original report Feb!) Susan will contact deanery. John mentioned the Chadney recital - how insensitive that man is!

Wed swim. To St Mark Woodcote Andy Mellor clarinet playing Finzi. Angela Navy played Berg piano sonata and Max Pemberton played Liszt Ballade No 2. Watched Frozen planet 2. Croydon climate action zoom.

Thurs woke too early no swim. To surgery blood test for vitamin D.  Art adn started 2 new paintings. Cheltenham circle prayer. Fr Timothy at B. To Horniman museum to hear Yat play the harpsichord. His intros are very interesting and he played works by Ignazio who was Black. Met the curator and chatted about Phoenix museum. Cream tea. The Croydon Minster magazine about Martin How came. To St John's for Katy Silverman's recital. She talked some nonsense about how some Bach would not work on the organ and then played the fugue too quickly. She really did not appreciate the building in her judgement of speeds. The Kerensa Briggs piece Light in darkness was different.

Friday woke too early so no swim. Liz went to do flower baskets so decided not to go to Unacc on foot. Card to Mavis Baker having missed Ken's funeral. Watched The Letter - it is outstanding. Colette rang so a wait on the letter to the Cardinal about divestment as an announcement is expected!  The Abbey. The Waste Land. Bake off.

Saturday both went for flu jab at surgery. SM walk in the woods with Angela, B and S. To St Barnabas Beckenham to play RVW on the Willis organ. Coffee but no loos as church hall is condemned. There are 7 C of E churches in Beckenham! Did not stay for lunch and St Edmund's. Liz to UCM Mass at St George's cathedral. To Streatham Hill mass and I volunteered to play on the 28th. Strictly.
