Strauss

A Sunday off as we were going to Lourdes. Walsingham, Upper Norwood with hymns (soft singing into masks or humming!) virtual Lourdes Pilgrimage Mass from Pinner with Bishop John Sheringham outdoors. Zoom with Caterham - seems David Dibbs played Meistersinger loud at the end against my instructions! Sat in the garden a lovely day. BBC singers prom Holst, Birtwistle from 2013. Finished Wendy Mitchell's "Somebody I used to know". Highly recommended if you want to understand Alzheimer's and its onset. Rosenkavalier from the Met with the gorgeous Renee and Susan Graham. Thomas Allen in Act 2.  Looking up the Edo de Waart Rosenkavalier from the Met and I came across a review of Rattle's performance where the critic took a side swipe at Levine, Renee and the production I am watching. Critics! Zoom with gallery prommers 11 there. Enjoying John Wilson 2013 prom. What a finale! I noted in 2017 that Pygmalion's Monteverdi Vespers was a bit of an endurance test - I prefer bel canto to con belto! Having abandoned the Monteverdi saw the end of Rosenkavalier surely the most beautiful ending in opera. ROH Fidelio on BBC4 which we were due to see at the cinema. Why on earth is Florestan surrounded by the chorus in suits in Act 2? He is supposed to be in isolation. Just spotted a bass from the drome!
