Advent 4

 Woke early again. Played Bairstow and Sumsion on Veni Emmanuel and Puer nobis Noel. We sang Rudolph Veiled in darkness. Short practice of the Ahs in the Rutter. Got petrol. Songs of praise from Westminster Abbey spoiled by Gospel version of O holy night. Changed bathroom light. On the way home I had the misfortune to tune into a radio 4 "festive comedy" "Some hay in a manger" introduced by Stephen Fry. It was a)not funny and b) offensive to Christians. I have complained. Watched Songs of Praise from Westminster Abbey ruined by a gospel singer version of "O holy night". B. I'm sorry I havent a clue. Sports personality won by Emma Raducanu, Adam second and Tom third. Antiques roadshow, Tabernacle choir. Belmont vespers.

Chat to Ann. B and S. Got ladder in and set up heater in toilet on it. Watched Daniel Barenboim in his own words and Truman Capote and Tennessee Williams friendship. Started on Syney opera house puzzle which we have had for a year! It's complicated! James Macmillan on Mozart and Lucy Winkett on Ceremony of carols. SMITF quiet contemplation of Assisi Giotto's fresco. Belmont vespers with Buxtehude In dulci jubilo at the end. Only connect. Christmas university challenge. Christmas at Libertys and a Christmas decorating company.

Tuesday woke at 5 and then 8.30. S and B. Watched film on the winter solstice at Newgrange. Devon and Cornwall at Christmas. Quiet time. Would I lie to you? Jigsaw is difficult. Put our front garden tree back up. Gresham lecture on carols and nostalgia by Jeremy Summerly. Celebrity Masterchef. Prince Philip tribute.

Wednesday woke early, lovely sunrise, frost. B, Fell asleep during SM, S. Jigsaw. Practised. Lovely pork for dinner. The carol service was terrific! The flute worked so well -Julie is such a lovely person and the choir sounded excellent. I played a wrong chord in Hark the herald - that's happened once before! The sopranos were slow to start in Angels' carol but kept going and all was well. Overjoyed! Fell asleep watching Sewing bee!

Thursday woke at 5 and 8,15. SM and B. The carol service livestream is excellent! Christmas University challenge. S finally came on! Cheltenham prayers about migration. Peter Stanford on the Devil. CCT. Caught up on Sewing Bee. Christmas University challenge. Gareth Malone in Blackburn did not disappoint! Masterchef.

Friday woke at 3 and 5 and slept in. SM, B and S. Music list for January done. 3 twits in the Natural history museum overnight. Christmas at Holkham Hall. King;s was excellent despite some booming pedal notes. 4 femal composers and a return to Willcocks. No Boris Ord or In the bleak. Cecilia McDowall commission sounded inredibly difficult! Thou who wast rich turned out to be the tune of "Whence is that goodly fragrance!.Had a sleep until 9. Office of readings and sung Mass from B was lovely. Midnight Mass. Angels' Carol and Sing lullaby. Pachelbel Von himmel hoch. Listened to Westminster cathedral on the way home. 

Midnight Mass and Christmas Day went well. We had d es cants at both! It was a delight to have Office of readings and Mass from Blackfriars at 9 pm.I played Gant Paean on the morning of Christ's nativity, Jordan on Cradle song and Noel Suisse. We sang Rocking. Radio 3 had Petroc Trelawny on great form including Siegfried Idyll. Drive to Acton for a fun filled family day. The new kitchen is stunning and Tom cooked a delicious meal starting with oysters! That's a first! After the Queen and presents I dropped off and woke up for puddings we played Articulate which is great. The boys had great fun. Call the midwife was just perfect. Cheese, Bailey's and port. Woke up to more rain! A Sunday off!.

Vigil

 Saturday a memorable day. SM walk in Muswell Hill. To Parliament and met up with Kate, Lyn and Graham. So many people and buggies! The tourist trade has clearly revived. Glad I took my chair and the 2 hours went quickly. Ecological Stations and Rosary and Laudate Deum meditation. William Rhind and animators came. Sean and Ciaran came and Louise and Tom went to a party in Coulsdon. We went to Mass and I spoke to the lady from CAFOD. Petition nearly at 1000! Sunday Lent 1 Played Demessieux on Attende domine which Linda and I sang. Prelude and fughetta Franck. A mosy enjoyable family lunch at Westow House. Lamb and lemon posset. Had a sleep! Evensong Howells Like as the hart. Wierd hymn Christian dost thou see them to St Andrew of Crete by Dykes. Throwdown was good. Ben Fogle in the Congo. Antiques roadshow.
