Final session of Bread for the world and Lent course. Yet again Michael bowled a googly and did not address the wonderings at all.  Lovely singing. Call my agent. 

Maundy Thursday up late. SMITF. Bit of Chrism from Southwark cathedral. Excellent lecture on the Arena chapel Padua. Adam Field and William Collinson at Portsmouth. Sam Wells at SMITF with choral scholars. Finished Michael's book. Mass from Belmont Abbey. To Caterham and the simple service went well. Jerry quoted Go to dark Gethsamene in his sermon. I played Wordsworth on the tune.

Saturday 10 am Readings from the cathedral. The readings and the Cardinal's homily quoting George Mackay Brown were beautiful but spoken psalms and Latin plainchant? Nazareth walk St Pancras with Geoff. Richard nearly got arrested in the station. Blackfriars Tenebrae . Fr Timothy reading.  St Matthew Passion conducted by Klemperer with which I grew up, Recorded in 1961 most of the participants must be no longer with us. I never thought I would sing with the Philharmonia chorus. Some tempi especially the chorales seem ponderous but by no means all. Great singers. Drawing and another layer of charcoal. Easter Vigil from Belmont Abbey website. The Exultet in full! 4 readings and sung psalms. Stunning organ at the end.

Vigil

 Saturday a memorable day. SM walk in Muswell Hill. To Parliament and met up with Kate, Lyn and Graham. So many people and buggies! The tourist trade has clearly revived. Glad I took my chair and the 2 hours went quickly. Ecological Stations and Rosary and Laudate Deum meditation. William Rhind and animators came. Sean and Ciaran came and Louise and Tom went to a party in Coulsdon. We went to Mass and I spoke to the lady from CAFOD. Petition nearly at 1000! Sunday Lent 1 Played Demessieux on Attende domine which Linda and I sang. Prelude and fughetta Franck. A mosy enjoyable family lunch at Westow House. Lamb and lemon posset. Had a sleep! Evensong Howells Like as the hart. Wierd hymn Christian dost thou see them to St Andrew of Crete by Dykes. Throwdown was good. Ben Fogle in the Congo. Antiques roadshow.
