Organ

Whitlock Two Fantasie-chorals played by Mark Jones at Holt, Norfolk - quite difficult. Drawers off won by the wrong person! Callum Alger playing FJ on Love unknown. Canon Mark Oakley on Faith and poetry.

Saturday Zoom with Colette and J and P folk about plans for climate crisis events. Blackfriars. Nazareth community walk down Brick Lane with a dancer and on ordinand. Fascinating talk by William McVicker on what an organ consultant does. Vespers from Belmont. Brague drawing Nelson never spoke to me so I did some work and gave up - too many chatterboxes there. Tuesdays are better. I am still unhappy with my drawing. Grayson's art club annoying.

Sunday Back to playing at Caterham. The church felt so cold having been indoors for weeks! The livestream sounds good and the Brahms Herzliebster Jesu and Bach Fantasia in C minor are good especially considering I have only had a piano to play and no pedals! We sang Ah holy Jesu and Lent prose. Good to be back! As my s.d. said going to church gives a structure to the week. Jerry gave me my Christmas present! I was thinking about Drawers off.  You have 5 artists and each chooses a picture from the 4 portrayals. In the judging to win £1000, each artist gets one vote but cannot vote for their own painting.  Even if an artist gets 2 paintings into the final 5, it only needs 2 to vote for another picture for it to win. But what happens if 2 pictures each get 2 votes? Who gets the casting vote - the 5th artist? I really think the wrong person won last week. Blown away is so much better as there are 3 judges. Art is not like cookery so the concept of judging from Come dine with me does not work. There is also the problem of somebody just not liking a person rather than their work.

Frick on Rembrandt self-portrait. Attila from Sofia not a great score. Costume went from quasi-Roman to modern! Filled in census - religion question now voluntary! Callum Alger playing various pieces. Call my agent is rather good. Jonathan Scott playing at Ripon. Programme on an Elizabethan firework display.

Monday SMITF and Blackfriars, An excellent SPIDIR refresher day with Revd Andrew Goodhead of St Christopher's looking at helping the dying and bereavement. Mike Reidy rang. Cleared garden. Graham Thorpe playing at Bradford cathedral. Transferred to Balham circle and made very welcome. Only connect and University challenge. Macau hotel. Part of Gresham lecture on Darwin and his followers.
