Ann Marie and Dennis are married!
Thursday to barbers with Declan. They gave us schloer bucks fizz, Ferraro rocher and coffee. Nice to have a proper wet shave and haircut. Andy the photographer turned up with Liz who had been at the house. Drove to the church and went back to pick up Flo - the bus was late. Wedding due to start at 2 p.m. actually kicked off at 2.20 p.m. Everyone especially our 3 looking very smart. Fr Costello was brilliant. Sophia walked down aisle and then wailed. David did very well on organ and Gerry sang well. Jo coped well with the long walk (Mendelssohn worked well for this) and read first lesson. We lit our candles and Dennis and Ann Marie lit theirs from them. Liz read Corinthians and I said prayers. Lovely prayer for the couple after vows to which they just say "I do"! Nice to have incense at the Mass - did not know the settings of Kyrie and Agnus but joined in with "Praise my soul" and "Dear Lord and Father of mankind" with gusto. Fr Bernard said he did not know the latter! After register Andy starting take photos while David played and played including the Widor. Daniel asked him to play it again as we left! I had to persuade Breda to walk with me! Liz looked after Jo. Lovely silver car. Ann Marie looked lovely and the red dresses were really nice. Drove to Station House hotel following the bus (not many on it). On arrival champagne, tea, sandwiches and cakes. Piper led them in and piped them into the reception which was beautifully done. So much to eat - the turkey, ham, 2 lots of potatoes too much even for me. Symphony of desserts (4) very tasty. Good speeches from Dennis and Bruce. Ann Marie too and I spoke briefly as Bruce had mentioned the 2 a.m. episode. He was funny about the time Dennis arrived home drunk after Field and Trek colleagues spiked his drinks and I said "Don't be sick on the new carpet!" Room cleared and weather was good. Disco until 2 a.m. when bus left so enjoyed that although it did go rather long! Nice wedding cake and lovely candle for the ladies to keep. Flowers for Liz, Breda and Grandma. Fr Bernard on me playing in the Anglican church "I'll drink to that" - turns out he knows Bishop Longley. It was a lovely day much enjoyed by all.
