Birth of John the Baptist

Clocks went back an hour and Fr Pat not there for 8 a.m. so I went to front desk and Angel called him! Met John and Brenda from Caterham who know Tony Charlier. Chat to Fr Pat at breakfast. A day at sea. Talk on the environmental policies of the line and engine room talk. Amazing towel folding demos and back stage tour. Christopher the excellent male singer lead signed my programme - he is from North Minnesota. They rehearse the shows for 5 weeks in Los Angeles. The dancers are very slick. One of the women singers I did not like much - she tried to sing a Sarah Brightman number and it did not work.
Wednesday June 25. Reception put on by Thomas Cook for our coach group - took group photos. Swam - only my second swim in the week! Good show Streetsongs. Dancing in Ocean bar and our last dinner together and said goodbye to Ann and Paul after a fabulous week together. Slept badly and Liz up to see docking at Vancouver.
Thursday June 26. To Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain - amazing cable car, saw orphaned grizzly bears and 3 wolves including a black one. Lunch together - salmon and then to scary Capilano swinging bridge and tree walk. Flight delayed a little. A lovely airport. Adrienne was fined for losing boarding pass. Car waiting for us as we came through and home by 4.30 p.m. Lots of emails and post. Sleep a problem but eventually dropped off. Jet lag for a week!

Reads well. You had a lifetime experience, seemingly. I am impressed that on such a tour that you could have Mass so regularly so presume you had a priest in tow on the tour. Some church friends have just returned from s similar trip to yours in Canada / Alaska and expressed concern for the lack of care of the wild environment and the global warming through pollution there. Graeme.
Thanks. Holland America provide a RC priest on each of their cruises! An excellent way for a priest to have a break! They also look after the crew. The line are addressing environmental issues as are the Alaskan government.

What a lovely experience! I do hope you are recovering from jet lag.

Luiz will be in London at some point. He is participating in a walk to end poverty there, and perhaps will be there at other times as well. I hope you get to meet.
I'd like to meet Luiz. The real problem Rob is our busy lifestyle. It's probably best if he rings me at the library 020 8871 7468. I am in Cardiff Saturday, church on Sunday and then we go to Ireland next Tuesday for Dennis and AnnMarie's wedding. By then the conference will have started. But if he is near Battersea Park he could pop into the library!
