Spirituality day and Tate Britain

Wednesday to swim (20) and then to police station to take photos of damaged door of the Escort. Waited 20 minute - only one PC on at first. Filled in a traffic form and computer crashed as it had yesterday when Liz went down. PC not interested in photos! To Hinsley Room for spirituality day led by Eileen Dutt on Rest. It was excellent with a wealth of material. Particularly liked Julian of Norwich quote. Meditated on Matthew 11: 27- 30 in a modern version "Come to me. Get away with me and you will recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn from me. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." Eugene H Peterson "The Message"
I came up with hymns in response to the hymn "his eye is on the sparrow" - Jesu lover of my soul, Come unto me from Messiah, O come to the waters from Elijah, and best of all "I heard the voice of Jesus say "come unto me and rest" which ends "and in that light of life I'll walk till travelling days are done". Horatius Bonar.
My real problem is emptying myself of self to let God take over completely. I was chatting about this to Fr Denis outside the cathedral - he was just back with his case from World Youth day in Sydney. Pax Christi had a table outside the cathedral and I was chatting to Maureen.
To Tate Britain to see Mitra Tabrizian's photos of Iran and Nahnou-together Now. I was much taken by Martin Creed's Work No. 850 where athletes run through the empty Duveen galleries every 30 seconds. The beauty of a figure suddenly appearing and flashing by reminds us of the Olympics. I was unimpressed by the Art now; Trappenkamp display but the new contemporary art displays have some interesting items.
Came home for dinner with sparkling wine - Liz made a nice meat loaf and wok concoction. We watched "Land of the jaguar" from Guyana and Trinny and Susanna on women's bottoms!
Am reading and enjoying "Where angels fear to tread" by E.M.Forster prior to reading group watching film of the book on Monday. We both woke in the night and I went to look at photo albums - lovely holidays we all had and some tears over Mum and Dad. I really wanted a good sleep because of the interviewing today. Saw 5 people all impressive in different ways so the choice is good.
